A Gentle Reminder for the Soul That’s Been Searching
There is a longing you may not have words for— a quiet homesickness, a pull toward something you can’t quite name.
It shows up in your questions. In your tears. In the ache that lingers even when life looks fine on the outside.
That longing is not a flaw. It’s a message. It’s your soul remembering its origin. It’s your ruh whispering: Return.
Before You Were Here — The Realm of Souls
Long before your body was formed, before you had a name or a story, you were a soul—pure, weightless, and conscious.
You lived in a realm called ‘Ālam al-Arwāḥ—the World of Souls. It was not earth, and not Jannah. It was a sacred waiting space where every soul resided, aware of Allah.
In that realm, Allah gathered every soul and asked:
“Am I not your Lord?”
We replied: “Yes, we bear witness.”
(Qur’an 7:172)
You said yes. You recognized Him. And that “yes” still lives in you.
Even if you’ve forgotten, your ruh has not.
What Is the Ruh?
The ruh is your soul’s essence. Not made of clay, or fire, or light. It is from the command of Allah—beyond the elements of this world.
“And they ask you concerning the ruh. Say: It is from the command of my Lord…”
(Qur’an 17:85)
It’s the secret inside you. The divine breath that gives you life. It’s what makes your eyes tear in sujood, your chest tighten in dhikr, your heart tremble when truth brushes against it.
The ruh doesn’t speak with words. It speaks with longing. With stillness. With a sense of returning.
And every time you feel lost, but keep turning back— that’s your ruh, pulling you Home.
Who Is Allah to You?
He is not just the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He is the One who made you on purpose.
He is the One who knew your fears before you named them. The One who wrote your tears before they ever fell. The One who remembered you while you were forgetting Him.
Your relationship with Allah is not general. It is personal. Ancient. Sacred.
He was there before you were aware. He stays when everyone else leaves. He waits—not with blame, but with mercy.
“He knows what is within the souls.”
(Qur’an 67:13)
You are not forgotten. You are not random. You are not one among billions.
You are you—and Allah has never stopped watching over you.
The Amanah — The Sacred Trust
When your soul said “yes” to Allah, it was not just a declaration—it was the beginning of a trust.
Allah offered a responsibility, the Amanah, to the heavens, the earth, and the mountains. They all declined, afraid of its weight. But the human being accepted.
“Indeed, We offered the Amanah to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they declined to bear it and feared it. But the human being bore it…”
(Qur’an 33:72)
You said yes. Not because you didn’t know the cost. But because your soul trusted Allah would guide you through.
You accepted the challenge of remembrance, even with forgetfulness. Of love, even through pain. Of worship, even in a world that distracts.
From Soul to Flesh — Entering the Dunya
Your soul remained in the unseen realm until the time was written.
At around 120 days in the womb, your ruh was gently breathed into your forming body. And you became something extraordinary: Clay and spirit. Earth and heaven. A soul wrapped in skin, carrying a divine trust.
You came from light—but entered a world of weight. And in this world, you would forget.
Forget the promise. Forget the sweetness. Forget the closeness.
But the ruh doesn’t forget. It keeps whispering through silence and sorrow:
“Come back.”
Why Don’t We Remember?
The memory of the soul’s origin was veiled by Allah’s wisdom. Because this journey is not about knowledge—it’s about love.
Allah wanted you to return by choice. Not because you remembered facts, but because you felt the pull of truth in your chest.
And even in your forgetting, your soul still speaks:
- In tears you can’t explain
- In longing that doesn’t go away
- In peace you feel when you finally turn to Him
That’s not just emotion. That’s memory. That’s home.
What Happens After Death?
When your time in this world ends, the ruh is lifted. Angels surround it—either with honor or heaviness, depending on the life it lived.
You will enter Al-Barzakh, the in-between realm—a space of waiting before the Day of Judgment. It may feel like centuries, or seconds. But it will pass.
“The Day they see it, it will be as if they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning.”
(Qur’an 79:46)
The ruh waits, and then is called again. And you will rise—to stand before Allah.
The Final Trial — The Day of Judgment
On Yawm al-Qiyāmah, the Day of Standing, your soul will stand with its deeds. Your prayers. Your intentions. Your regrets. Your hopes.
“Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] reward on the Day of Resurrection.”
(Qur’an 3:185)
Everything will be shown. Everything will make sense. And you will know what you carried.
The Eternal Return — Jannah or Jahannam
After judgment, your journey continues.
For the sincere, the ones who kept returning—Jannah awaits. A place of joy, of reunion, of nearness to Allah.
For those who rejected, harmed, and closed their hearts—Jahannam is justice. But even then, Allah’s mercy is not absent.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever has an atom’s weight of faith will eventually be taken out of the Fire.”
His mercy is vast. His forgiveness is not like ours. And for many who carried Tawheed—even with great mistakes—Paradise is still the end.
What Does Allah Want From You Here?
You weren’t sent to earth without purpose.
You are here:
- To remember Allah
- To worship sincerely
- To carry beauty and mercy into the world
- To protect and honour the ruh inside you
“And I did not create jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”
(Qur’an 51:56)
Your life is a sacred assignment. A mission designed just for you.
You Are Meant to Mean Something
You may not have found it yet. You may still be searching. But your soul was created to matter.
Maybe you’re a quiet healer. Maybe you’re a witness to truth. Maybe you’re still lost and just trying to breathe again.
That’s okay.
Even your confusion can be part of the return. Even your questions are part of the remembrance.
Final Reminder: You Are Still Invited
You may feel far. But Allah is near.
“Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins…’”
(Qur’an 39:53)
So take one step. Even a shaky one. Allah promised:
“Whoever comes to Me walking, I will come to him running.”
(Hadith Qudsi)
You are not too far. You are not too broken. You are not behind.
You are already on the way Home.
