📖 QUR’ANIC VERSE

📌 Surah At-Tur 52:28

“Indeed, We used to call upon Him before. Truly, He is Al-Barr, the Most Kind and the Most Merciful.”

📚 Tafsir (Ibn Kathir, Al-Baghawi, Al-Qurtubi)**

  • These are the words of the people of Paradise, looking back on their journey.
  • “We used to call on Him” — even when we were uncertain, sinful, or struggling.
  • Now they testify: He really was Barr — the One who gave more than we asked, and forgave more than we knew.
  • “Barr” here means:
    • Uninterrupted goodness
    • Loyalty to those who tried to stay close
    • Patience with our failures

🪞 Tafhīm (Relatable Understanding)

  • You thought you were unworthy — He still gave.
  • You forgot Him for years — He still preserved your heart.

That’s Al-Barrloyal even when we are not.

When you look back at your life and see quiet mercies — know they were from Him, the Most Kind.

📜 HADITH NARRATION

📌 Sahih Muslim 2750

Narrated by Abu Musa al-Ashʿarī (may Allah be pleased with him) — a close companion known for his beautiful recitation and gentle heart. He served the Prophet ﷺ with deep love and narrated many hadith about Allah’s mercy:

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“There is no one more patient with harm heard than Allah. They ascribe a son to Him, yet He continues to grant them health and provision.”

📚 Tafsir (An-Nawawi, Ibn Rajab)**

  • People blaspheme, deny, and wrong Him — yet He still gives.
  • This hadith shows:
    • His mercy precedes punishment
    • His kindness is not reactive, but rooted in His nature
  • He is Al-Barr — good to His creation even when they insult Him.

🪞 Tafhīm (Relatable Understanding)

  • If you’ve ever felt you’ve done too much wrong for Allah to still be good to you — this hadith says otherwise.
  • He continues to feed, clothe, and care for even the most defiant people.

What then of you, who are trying to return?

His goodness is not conditional — it’s in His nature.

4. He Waited for You to Return

  • You sinned. You delayed. You thought it was too late.

But He didn’t close the door. Because He is Al-Barrpatient, faithful, and loving even in your absence.

Yā Barr,
You have always been good to me — even when I couldn’t see it.
Let me not mistake Your patience for absence.
Let me not take for granted the mercy You quietly wrap around me.
And let my return be the beginning of my gratitude for all You’ve given.
