“He is the One who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself above the Throne. Narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) — the cousin of the Prophet ﷺ, raised in his household and among the closest to him in knowledge and devotion:
The Prophet ﷺ would say in his night prayer:
“O Allah, forgive me for what I’ve done and what I’ve delayed, what I’ve done openly and secretly, and what You know better than I.
You are Al-Muqaddim and Al-Mu’akhkhir. None has the right to be worshiped but You.”

- This is the only sahih hadith where Al-Muqaddim and Al-Mu’akhkhir are named directly.
