Arabic root: ر – أ – ف (rāʼ • hamzah • fāʼ)
This root carries the meanings of compassion, tenderness, and soft mercy. It implies a gentleness that removes hardship and brings ease. It is more delicate than raḥmah (mercy), highlighting kindness that spares from suffering.

🌸 Ar-Ra’ūf’s Tender Mercy

Gentleness (rifq) is an expression of Ar-Ra’ūf. His dealings with His servants are never excessive or crushing; they are always marked with softness and balance.


⏳ Ar-Ra’ūf’s Concern Through The Prophet ﷺ

Sahih al-Bukhari 5998 ✅ SahihThe Prophet ﷺ said: “My example and your example is like a man who lit a fire, and moths and insects began to fall into it. I try to prevent you, but you overpower me and fall in.” This is his concern and kindness toward his Ummah.

The Prophet ﷺ embodied Allah’s attribute of ra’fah; he could not bear to see his Ummah fall into harm. His concern was an extension of Ar-Ra’ūf’s mercy.
