The Most Exalted • The One Whose Rank, Majesty, and Purity Are Far Above Anything Conceivable or Comparable
✨ ROOT MEANING
Arabic root: ع – ل – و (ʿayn • lām • wāw)
(same as Al-‘Āliyy, but intensified form)
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ʿAlā (علا) | To rise, be high, be superior |
| Taʿālī (تعالي) | To be elevated above comparison or opposition |
| Al-Mutʿālī (المتعال) | The One who is exalted beyond all limits, who is far above imperfection, and who surpasses all creation in status, essence, and judgment — not only high, but immeasurably elevated |
Al-Mutʿālī is not just higher in rank — He is completely beyond comparison, unreachable in nature, and untouched by anything low or limited.
📖 QUR’ĀNIC VERSE
📌 Surah Ar-Raʿd 13:9
“[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed — the Grand, the Most Exalted (Al-Mutʿālī).”
📚 Tafsir (Ibn Kathir, Al-Sa‘di, Al-Baghawi)**
- This verse highlights:
- Allah knows both hidden (ghayb) and seen (‘shahādah) — nothing escapes Him
- Al-Mutʿālī means:
- He is exalted in knowledge
- Exalted in power
- Exalted above injustice, corruption, and imperfection
- His exaltation is not physical (not in distance) — it is status, holiness, sovereignty, and glory
Nothing human can reach Him. And yet, Al-Mutʿālī is near to every sincere heart.
🪞 Tafhīm (Relatable Understanding)
- You ask: “How can I come close to a God so high?”
Al-Mutʿālī replies: “You can’t climb to Me — but I see your sincerity, and I lift you when you lower yourself to Me.”
📜 HADITH REFERENCE
While Al-Mutʿālī is not mentioned directly in any known sahih hadith as a Name, its meaning is reflected in the way the Prophet ﷺ taught about Allah’s grandeur.
📌 Sahih Muslim 2736a
Narrated by Abū Dharr al-Ghifārī (may Allah be pleased with him):
The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah says:
“O My servants… If the first and last of you were all as pious as the most righteous among you, that would not increase My dominion at all…”
📚 Tafsir (Ibn Rajab)**
- Al-Mutʿālī:
- Is not elevated by worship, nor decreased by denial
- His greatness is His alone, not borrowed or affected by creation
- You glorify Him not to complete Him — but to realize how lowly you are compared to Him
Even the most perfect human praise cannot touch Al-Mutʿālī — but He still welcomes the heart that praises Him in awe.
🪞 Tafhīm (Relatable Understanding)
- You say: “I feel unworthy to make duʿā.”
Al-Mutʿālī says: “I am higher than you can imagine — but I lower My mercy for the one who comes to Me broken and sincere.”
🌍 EVIDENCE IN TODAY’S WORLD
1. Every Created Authority Has Limits — But Not Allah
- Kings fall. Systems fail. Allah’s rule is unshaken.
That’s Al-Mutʿālī — far above all worldly power.
2. You Feel Closer to Allah When You Humble Yourself
- Sujood doesn’t lower you — it lifts your soul.
Al-Mutʿālī raises the humble because they recognize His highness.
3. Nothing You Do Changes Allah — But It Changes You
- He doesn’t need your salah. But it shapes you.
Al-Mutʿālī is exalted with or without you — and yet He invites you in.
4. You Witness Injustice and Know There Must Be Higher Judgment
- Your heart longs for divine correction.
That longing is for Al-Mutʿālī — the One whose justice is too high to be delayed forever.
❤️ EMOTIONAL ANCHORING
Al-Mutʿālī is the One who says:
“I am higher than your pain, your oppressors, and your fears. Lift your gaze. I have never lowered My throne — but I have opened My door to the one who bows with truth.”
He:
- Is above all needs and flaws
- Is untainted by creation
- Rules without being challenged
- Listens to the lowest soul from the highest station
You don’t need to rise to reach Al-Mutʿālī.
You just need to bow sincerely — and He will raise you beyond your limits.
🤲 PERSONALIZED DUʿĀ
(Inspired by Qur’an 13:9 and the essence of Allah’s exaltation)
Not from the Prophet’s exact words — but drawn from authentic meanings
Yā Mutʿālī,
You are above all — and yet You see me.
I cannot reach Your station, but I long for Your nearness.
Lift my heart above this world.
Elevate my soul by humbling it.
And let me glorify You not because You need it — but because I need to remember who You truly are.
