Arabic root: ق – و – م (qāf • wāw • mīm)

Al-Qayyūm is the axis of existence. Without Him, nothing would hold together, function, or remain — not time, not life, not even you.
📖 QUR’ĀNIC VERSE
📌 Surah Āli ʿImrān 3:2
“Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living (Al-Ḥayy), the Sustainer of [all] existence (Al-Qayyūm).”
📚 Tafsir (Ibn Kathir, Al-Qurtubi, Al-Sa‘di)**
- Al-Qayyūm means:
- He needs no rest, no sleep, no food
- He manages every atom, soul, and system without assistance
- He is the constant guardian, never unaware, and forever active in sustaining His creation
- Together with Al-Ḥayy:
- Al-Ḥayy = His eternal life
- Al-Qayyūm = His eternal control
You exist only because Al-Qayyūm allows you to — and He holds you together with every breath.

- You feel like you’re falling apart.
Al-Qayyūm says: “You’re not holding yourself together. I am. And I never sleep.”

Narrated by Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī (may Allah be pleased with him):
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Allah does not sleep, and it is not befitting for Him to sleep. He lowers the scale and raises it… The deeds of the night are taken to Him before the deeds of the day, and the deeds of the day before the deeds of the night…”

- This hadith reveals:
- Al-Qayyūm never loses track of anything
- He is always managing — giving rizq, recording deeds, measuring lifespans
- Unlike human kings, He never tires or delays

That’s Al-Qayyūm — holding the entire cosmos without effort.

- Provision appeared. Help came.
Al-Qayyūm sustained you — even when you didn’t ask.
3. You Slept Peacefully — But the World Didn’t Stop
- That’s Al-Qayyūm — awake, managing, protecting. Always.

- Rizq. Timing. Hearts. Healing.
That’s Al-Qayyūm — putting things in place with divine accuracy.
